As Veterans Day arrives, Villanova University Online honors our military veterans while reflecting on the sacrifices and commitments they have made to protect our liberties and our country. Across the nation, we gather to commemorate the duties undertaken by the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and remember the lives lost in service.
To all who've served in times of peace and war, we extend to you our sincerest gratitude.
As a nation steeped in traditions and patriotic values, there are many ceremonies honoring those who have served our country this Veterans Day.
While a quick search online may yield numerous results for state and local events, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs have compiled an overview of some of the major events nationally. They are inviting public support and encouraging participation from all local military veterans.
Veterans Day events can take many shapes and forms, from the National Ceremony held annually at Arlington National Cemetery to schoolchildren and teachers inviting speakers to participate in Take a Vet to School Day. The VA has even created helpful documentation to provide guidance and structure to local groups and communities wishing to organize their own Veterans Day celebrations.
For additional information on events and initiatives such as the Veterans Day poster contest, the National Veterans Day Ceremony and the Veterans History Project, please visit the Veterans Day information page.
On this day, please take a moment to thank our veterans. Volunteer in community events and services and give back to those who've given their all for us. If you have the means to contribute, donate to support funding for veteran services and charities. For all they've done, it is our duty to give back.
To the veterans of our nation's Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and National Guard:
Thank you for your service.
